Local Community Planning Forums
Over 2007/08, the operation of the Local Committees in East Ayrshire was reviewed and it was agreed that a mechanism for community engagement required to be developed which was more interactive and allowed local people to exercise greater influence over the planning and decision making of the Council and its Community Planning Partners.
After wide consultation during 2007, four Local Community Planning Forums were established, namely:
- Southern Local Community Planning Forum;
- Northern Local Community Planning Forum;
- Central North Local Community Planning Forum; and
- Central South Local Community Planning Forum.
The four new Local Community Planning Forums provide for balanced participation from Elected Members, community representatives through the Federations of Community Groups and the Equalities Forum, the voluntary sector and Community Planning Partners.
In February/March each year, prior to the start of the new financial year, an exercise will be carried out with each Local Community Planning Forum to identify its priority issues for discussion that year.
A map detailing the area each Local Community Planning Forum covers can be downloaded from the documents on the right.
